A British judge ruled on the eve of Al Gore co-winning the Nobel Peace Prize that students forced to watch “An Inconvenient Truth” must be warned of the film’s factual errors. But would there be any science at all left in Gore’s “truth” if these errors and their progeny were excised?

Steven Milloy has a very interesting take on Judge Justice Burton’s ruling.  His opinion piece explores Gore’s film in light of items that must be removed in order for teachers to not have to warn students about the “facts” presented by “An Inconvenient Truth”. About 25% of the film would have to be removed. That may not sound like a lot but most of the remaining 75% is self-promotional Gore footage.

Pay for tax cuts

“Don’t cut taxes unless you have a plan to pay for it.”

This is one of the things Hillary Clinton said during an interview on the Fox Business Channel this morning. That’s a scary thought. It defies all logic and reason. How does a person see the people of America if a tax cut requires payment. The taxes are a payment. She said later in the interview that she believes the top income earners can afford to pay more taxes so the middle class can have a break. I’m all for the middle class paying less taxes. But I also think everyone who pays taxes should have to pay less and the federal government needs to spend less.

Sorry Charlie

The House, newly controlled by Dems, voted to raise the minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.25 an hour. Part of this bill would bring the minimum wage to all US territories. But (isn’t there always a but?) there’s an exemption. Seems American Samoa is a special place. Does that mean you can raise a family on $5.15/hour there? I doubt it. What’s the deal here? When in doubt, follow the money. What’s on American Samoa? There are two tuna canning operations that employ about 75% of the population. One of them is owned by Starkist Tuna. Starkists’s parent company is Del Monte, who’s headquarters is in San Francisco. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi represents the San Fran area. Interesting…

I’ll keep an eye on this.
